If you’re setting up electric fence netting, the most important step is connecting it to your electric fence charger (energizer). A proper connection ensures your fence delivers consistent voltage, keeping animals in and predators out. In this guide, you’ll learn exactly how to connect your charger to standard netting and positive/negative (Pos/Neg) netting safely and effectively.
Drive at least one ground rod into the soil until only 2–3 inches remain above ground. For dry or rocky areas, use two or more rods for better performance.
Attach a lead wire from the ground terminal of the charger to the ground rod using a clamp.
Take another lead wire from the fence (hot) terminal of the charger and clip it to the top clip at the beginning of your electric netting. This supplies power through the net.
Use a fence voltage tester to check your system. Voltage should read at least 2,000–3,000 volts for reliable animal control. Clear tall grass or weeds that touch the net, as they drain power.
Connecting your electric fence charger to netting is simple but essential for safe and effective fencing. With the right setup, you’ll keep animals where they belong and protect them from predators.
